ROYALLY BRED 2-YEAR-OLDS TO DEBUT ON FRIDAY NIGHT
---------------------------------------------------------
Now that the Kindergarten Futurity trials are out of the way and the 10 finalists to the Grade 1 race have been determined, a new wave of 2-year-olds will now make their first career starts this weekend in preparation for the trials to the Ed Burke Million Futurity on Sunday, June 12 and Governor’s Cup Futurity trials on July 16. There are 224 horses currently eligible to compete in the Ed Burke Million trials. The Ed Burke Million Futurity final will have an estimated purse of $1.1 million this year while the Governor’s Cup Futurity at the end of July will have a record estimated purse of $525,000.
Friday’s program will feature three races at 300 yards with some outstanding fillies scheduled to see action. The second race on the card will feature the debut of Lucky Seven Ranch’s Blues Girls Dynasty, a Texas-bred filly sired by champion FDD Dynasty and out of 2007 World Champion Blues Girl Too. Blues Girls Dynasty’s dam and sire finished first and second in the 2006 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity.
Trained by Joe Bassett, the royally bred Blues Girls Dynasty will see action in the second race after posting a couple of awesome workouts. She shared the fastest time of 60 drills when posting a :12 flat time on April 23 and before that she had the second fastest of 27 drills on April 9. Meanwhile, Mike Abraham’s homebred Sex On Fire also recorded a :12 flat workout on the morning of April 23 and her sire is the red hot Walk Thru Fire. The tremendous stallion saw his runners post the three fastest qualifying times to the Kindergarten final including the Abraham-owned This Boogie Fires. Luis Alvarez’s Jennifers Challenge, also sired by FDD Dynasty, will also see action in this race and arrives after posting several nice drills. Three highly promising boys will be in action in the sixth race of the night. Billy Smith and Pat Guthrie’s Terrific Synergy is a gelded son of FDD Dynasty out of the Grade 1 winning mare Terrific Energy, while David and Ross Hinkins’ colt FDD Moon is a full brother to Your First Moon and Not A Full Moon. The third talented prospect in this race is MR TR, a colt by TR Dasher, which runs for Alan and Denise Tyler. The distance for this race is 300 yards.
Two of possibly the best babies on the grounds will be in action when 10 fillies compete in Friday’s eighth race. Gianni Samaja’s Inmate Separate was breathtaking in her April 19 drill when she stopped the clock in :12.20, while Ed Allred’s Walk Thru Fire filly Warm Form has the look of a star based on her :11.90 drill on April 16. Flame N Flash, another Walk Thru Fire actually has racing experience to count on, and will be a big contender in this 300-yard event. Robert Williams campaigns the half sister of Hawkish and Hawkinson. |
